Ben Ellington
Ben Ellington was recently named the Williamsburg City Executive for Southern Bank, a 120-year-old community bank headquartered in Mt. Olive, NC. He began his career in finance in 2003 with AgSouth Farm Credit in Madison, Georgia. Prior to that, he interned with and later worked for a Resource Conservation and Development Council under the administration of the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service. Dedicated to his community, he regularly spends time volunteering with local non-profits, and currently serves on the board of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Business Council. An avid outdoorsman, Ben spends much of his free time on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries fishing, crabbing, and boating with his family. His educational background includes a degree in Agricultural & Applied Economics from The University of Georgia. He also completed a three-year course of study with the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and received a financial technology certification from MIT in 2017. As a teenager, Ben’s small family farm was placed under a conservation easement, giving him an early glimpse into the value of land conservation.
