Don Cole

Don Cole is a Vice President with Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, where he manages the company’s Virginia Beach office. He has been a member of the Virginia engineering community for over 25 years, with a focus on stormwater, wastewater, and water projects. Active in professional organizations, Don is a past president and a former board member for the American Public Works Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter, where he continues to chair several committees. A resident of York County, Don previously chaired the York County Citizen Stormwater Advisory Committee.

An Envision Sustainability Professional, Don has a background encompassing regulatory compliance, infrastructure design and construction, GIS, and surveying. He has been involved in many projects and programs in Hampton Roads, including the Sanitary Sewer Regional Consent Order and the Chesapeake Bay TMDL under various locality MS4 permits. Also a Human Geography professor at Tidewater Community College, Don communicates and educates on landscape modification, demographics, economics, and sea-level rise.

Don and his wife, Allison, enjoy active travel throughout the US and world – often going off the beaten path to experience local cultures and environments. They frequently travel with their three adult children and spouses. An active beekeeper, Don maintains 100 hives in a hobby that just seems to keep growing on him.
