My name is Emily Hinson and I am the new Stewardship Manager at the Historic Virginia Land Conservancy. I am thrilled to be working for HVLC; I believe land conservation is essential to protecting our land and water. I am particularly excited to be working on stewardship because once land is preserved it requires ongoing time and attention in order to thrive.

My background is in environmental conservation. After earning my bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of William & Mary, I moved to Annapolis, Maryland where I worked in environmental education and wetland conservation. In 2017 I returned to the Williamsburg area to work for the James River Association where I focused on habitat restoration, water quality improvement, and living shorelines.

I look forward to working with the community to preserve our region’s wetlands, forests, and open space.
