Marie Struble

Marie is a Virginia Native, having been raised in Williamsburg, Hampton and Onancock, Virginia. She is a graduate of Lafayette High School and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the College of William & Mary and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University. Today, Marie teaches at Virginia Peninsula Community College as a Mathematics instructor. In addition to her position at Virginia Peninsula Community College, Marie also taught at the community college level in Maryland and online. She also taught English as a Second Language in Japan.

Marie is married to Ron Struble, a retired Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, who now focuses on operating two small businesses in York County and is active in government accountability issues and protecting the local area from over-development. She is the proud mother of four children, whom she homeschooled primarily due to the family’s frequent moves in the U.S. and abroad. Today, her daughter Erin is a practicing veterinarian, and her son is a software engineer for a major European-based logistics company. One twin girl lives in Greenville, NC and is a surgical resident, and the baby twin is a senior financial analyst for a software firm.

Marie has extensive international travel, personally observing areas in which the international environment is threatened and protected. She lived in Tokyo and Hiroshima, Japan, and Bahrain. Her travels include Singapore, Australia, and Ireland. While the moving every few years was challenging, the experience was wonderfully enriching for herself, and the lives of her four children.

Marie is a member of the Historic Rivers Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists and on the Board of Directors of the Conserve York County Foundation, a group dedicated to the preservation of our natural lands in York County and the surrounding area.
